A MAN will front court later this month following his arrest for alleged child sex offences committed against a young girl in Taree.
The 26-year-old man was arrested by police following a two-month long investigation.
Police say they received information in July in relation to the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Taree a number of years ago.
The investigation led to the arrest of the Woolgoola man.
Police allege that on separate occasions - once in 2004 and once in 2005 – the man, who was then 18 years old, sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl.
The man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 10 years; and, two counts of inciting child under 10 years to commit an indecent act.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday September 10.
