OLD Bar coach Jason Morrissey will not contest a one match suspension handed down by the Group Three Rugby League executive.
He was cited after he approached referee Jason Allan at halftime of last week's preliminary semi-final at Old Bar.
Morrissey will not be allowed to coach the side in Sunday's major semi-final against Wauchope at Wauchope. He will have to sit at least 20 metres away from the team's bench. The club was also fined $300.
Morrissey admitted he did the wrong thing by approaching the referee.
"I'll cop it on the chin,'' he said.
Morrissey doesn't believe the Pirates will be disadvanted by the penalty.
"I have good people around me,'' he said.
Morrissey attended the hearing with members of the club's executive.
Group Three president Wayne Bridge said all clubs have been sent a directive reminding them that no player, coach or official is permitted to approach a referee.
"They've been put on notice,'' he said.
