Jordan Howard replied for the Cats when a ball went off the keeper and he was their to blast the ball home.
Ricky Campbell added to his tally for the season when he was put through on goal and made no mistake to give the Cats a 2-1 lead at half time.
Both sides had several chances early in the second half with Saints hitting the bar and the Cats hitting the post.
Luke Jones scored Taree's third when his free kick managed to slip through the keeper's legs and soon after Campbell won a penalty and this resulting in Ben Sedlen converting for his first goal of the season and a 4-1 victory for the Wildcats.
Joey Gleeson, who was elevated into the starting side for this encounter, was named the man of match well supported by Sedlen and Howard.
