FAMILY and friends of the late Vallie 'Val' Middlemiss will gather at her funeral on Monday to remember her remarkable 101 years of life.
Val recently celebrated her 101st birthday at Storm Retirement Village but passed away peacefully on August 15.
Val has lived in the Manning Valley all her life. She was born at Oxley Island on December 10, 1911 and was a descendant of the Allan family, the first settlers on the island.
She was active in her community, including as a foundation member of the Taree-Old Bar Ladies Surf Club and RSL Golden Oldies Club, a member of the VIEW Club and Camp Quality.
She shared her married life with James, who is also deceased and was a mother to four children, grandmother to five grandchildren and great-grandmother to eleven.
The funeral service will be on Monday, August 26 at St John's Anglican Church, Taree from 11am.
