Five goals last week against Port FC has lifted Campbell's tally to 29.
"That's more than he scored last year,'' Taree coach Josh Ferris said.
"I don't know how the other clubs are going, but I'd be surprised if anyone has more than that.''
Campbell has the opportunity to increase his tally tomorrow in the last round match against Kempsey Saints at Omaru Park.
However, Ferris admits this is something of a 'nothing' game for the Wildcats. Taree can't do any better or worse than fourth - a finish that he admits is slightly disappointing for the defending champions.
"We can only rue a couple of games that got away from us earlier in the year,'' he said.
The Wildcats have also been forced to make changes to the side that crushed an under strength Port FC last weekend, although none are injury related.
"We have to qualify players for reserve grade,'' Ferris explained.
Jake Yarnold is back in reserves despite a player of the match performance against FC and his place goes to Joey Gleeson, who has played off the bench this year in firsts.
Jackson Witts also drops back with Justin Atkins available again. Ferris will start in reserves with Mick Brassell taking his place.
The Wildcats are at least guaranteed a home game for the elimination semi against next weekend Camden Haven regardless of what happens tomorrow.
Ferris repeated the mantra from last match.
"We want to get a bit of winning momentum going into the semis. But we don't want any injuries or suspensions,'' he said.
He knows the Wildcats will be playing an opponent desperate for points tomorrow, with Saints two clear of last placed Tuncurry-Forster and desparate to avoid possibly finishing last.
