NINE candidates will face voters when we go to the polls to elect a new member for Lyne on September 7.
The nine are, in order on the ballot paper, John Klose, Christian Democratic Party; Craig Huth, One Nation; Brian Buckley-Clare, Katter's Australia Party; Peter Alley, Country Labor; Ian Oxenford, The Greens; David Gillespie, The Nationals; Troy Wilkie, Palmer United Party; Michael Gough, Citizen Electoral Council; and, Steve Attkins, the sole independent candidate in the field.-
Almost 100,000 voters are registered to elect a new member for Lyne.-
Divisional Returning Officer, Vicki Frost, said 97,117 voters were registered when the rolls officially closed on August 12.-
And there was a late surge to register too with 3412 enrolment transactions recorded from the announcement of the election to the close of rolls.-
Ms Frost confirmed there would be 71 polling places on election day while a number of special hospital teams would visit as many as 28 aged care facilities and hospitals as part of election process.-
Pre-poll voting is also underway at Shop 4 Manning Arcade, Manning Street, Taree and 2/86 Horton Street in Port Macquarie.
