GREATER Taree City Council's Manning Valley Info website had a big surge in interest shortly after Monday's Australian Story episode, which featured the web address.
"It was really good timing for such a big spike in visitors for our website," said Donna Hudson, council's tourism and public relations team leader.
"The website was recently reworked and updated, and it is great that the newly refurbished version was ready for the rush of attention after the episode aired on ABC."
The ABC program featured beautiful shots of the Manning Valley which no doubt led to enthusiasm by the national audience to visit the Manning Valley's tourism website.
"Website visitor spikes like the one earlier this week means something has happened which has really increased awareness of the site," said Daniel Jordan of Joyer, the IT and online marketing firm who performed the recent refresh of the website. "A spike like this shows that the Manning Valley is in the forefront of their minds and it's something in which they're clearly interested."
The refreshed site was launched three weeks ago by Greater Taree City Council, with a new design, new features and improved images.
The decision to revamp the website was made in the 2012-2013 tourism marketing strategy document as part of the overall push to improve the Manning Valley's web presence.
Visitors to the site are encouraged to 'like' the new site on Facebook, either by using links on the site or by searching for 'Visit Manning Valley' on Facebook.
