TAREE City has moved quickly to sign Phil Adamson as coach for next year’s Group Three Rugby League competition.
Adamson agreed to take the job on again before last weekend’s clash against Wauchope. City president Mal Dixon said Adamson has done a sterling job under difficult circumstances this year. Originally Daniel Dumas had agreed to stay with the club as player-coach. However, he relocated to Mackay for work and speculation started in early January that he wouldn’t be coming back. Adamson initially agreed to be assistant coach, but eventually took on over as head coach when it was obvious that Dumas wouldn’t be available.
Taree fields the youngest and most inexperienced side in the competition but Adamson believes the talent is there.
“Now we have Phil on board we can start to look at players for next year,’’ Mr Dixon said.
Taree’s under 18s lead the competition while the reserve grade is equal fifth.
