DAVID Gillespie is The Nationals candidate for Lyne for the 2013 federal election.
He has a long history in the region and has spent over 20 years practising as a local gastroenterologist.
As part of his medical career, David has been involved in both small business and the education of local doctors.
Together with his wife Charlotte, David built the Hastings Day Surgery from the ground up and learnt first-hand the demands of running a small business in a regional area.
David also spent over a decade as director of physician training at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and was instrumental in providing new local doctors the skills necessary to serve the community and build careers in regional medicine.
For David though the most important thing is his family.
With Charlotte he has raised three children at their small cattle property in Sancrox.
Ensuring that our future generations have the opportunity to succeed and a future to look forward to is the key reason why David has put up his hand as The Nationals candidate for Lyne. He wants to be a part of a stable Coalition government to get the Mid North Coast back on track again.
David has spent over a year campaigning across the electorate from Crescent Head to the Manning and out to Gloucester. He has doorknocked literally thousands of houses and has been listening to what people want from a new federal government.
The key issues that residents raise with him include the state of our local roads, Labor's revolving door border policy and government debt and increased taxes.
David says they want a government that will make life easier for them, not harder, and he says he will work tirelessly to be an effective voice in a new government, a government which Australians can be proud of.
