Members from Taree Artists were busy this week displaying the drawings, paintings, sculptures and miniatures for the showcase, which runs at the Taree High School hall from tomorrow July 6 to Sunday July 14.
The collection includes work from professional, amateur, beginner and student artists and this year are being judged by education curator from Maitland Regional Art Gallery Anne McLaughlin.
The range of subject matter is wide as well as the artistic styles, which means there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Taree Open Art Exhibition is one of the most generous in New South Wales and this year has prize money of $5450 on offer.
It is the only major, unselected, annual art prize held in the Manning Valley, and gives artists the opportunity to exhibit, sell and compete for prizes.
The exhibition categories include oil or acrylic on canvas, water colour/water medium, pastels, open section (all media and mixed media), drawing, members of Taree Artists, miniatures and three dimensional (sculpture, pottery).
Tonight doors will open at 6.30pm and the cost of entry is $10. Light refreshments will be served.
Assistant director of the Manning Regional Art Gallery, Jane Hosking will conduct the official opening.
The winners will be announced at 7.30pm.
All works are for sale and part of the sales commission is donated to a local organisation.
Taree High School hall is located on the corner of Albert and Macquarie Streets, Taree.
The Taree Open Art Exhibition is open daily until July 14 from 9am to 4pm (and only 2pm on the final day).
