The funding means that the 21 people currently living in two Taree Hostels will soon be moving into state of the art, purpose-built group homes.
Dundaloo Support Services CEO, Shelly Sabey, said "We are at the beginning of an exciting new era, which will see the reinvention of Dundaloo; our buildings and our capacity to support people will be significantly enhanced in the next few years".
"Due to the commitment to people with a disability from the NSW State Government, the active support from Ageing, Disability and Home Care, and the vision of the Dundaloo Board of Directors, Dundaloo will look very different by 2015," says Ms Sabey.
The announcement of the Redevelopment Project coincides with Dundaloo Foundation celebrating 60 years of service to the local community.
The Redevelopment Project has already commenced, with two blocks of land already purchased - one in Taree West, the other Old Bar, while another group home is being
designed for a site already owned by ADHC in Taree.
Ms Sabey says "I am thrilled that we will soon be able to offer a "real" home to the people we support, creating an environment that will potentially add value to their lives."
