A DISTURBING video of post-Groovin’ The Moo violence in Bunbury has been broadcast to more than 280,000 people all over the world.
The video, which runs for just over a minute, shows two fights break out between a group of young men and women at Bunbury’s Orfa Kebabs and Turkish Bakery on Victoria Street.
It was posted on a Facebook page with close to 290,000 members from across the globe.
The video has been “liked” by close to 1000 people, has attracted almost 400 comments and has been passed on 175 times since it was posted on Monday at 3pm.
One woman who commented on the video said it proved Bunbury was a “scum bucket.”
Bunbury Police acting superintendent Geoff Stewart said the video was an obvious example how violence can occur when people are under the influence of alcohol and other substances.
Superintendent Stewart said police were concerned with the amount of comments glorifying the fight.
“Social media is an effective tool to assist in reducing crime but not when used to mock individuals and communities,” he said.
“The community does not like it and that is why programs in Bunbury like Choose Respect are popular because the general community does not want this type of behaviour to be prevalent in their town.”
He urged members of the public to come forward with the identities of the people in the video.
“The video contains definite assaults and they could be charged with such or at least disorderly conduct by fighting,” he said.
If anyone knows the identity of the individuals involved, they are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
