Manning Hospital's Registered Nurse of the Year award was presented to Erin Hunt.
Erin has been a registered nurse at Manning Hospital for seven years and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Health Management at the University of New England.
"I really feel it's hard to accept this award as an individual, because as a hospital and a team, everything I do is only possible because of everyone I work with," Erin said as she received her award.
Enrolled nurse of the year was awarded to Carol Thomas, who also received the perpetual award, established in honour of the late Veronica Peters and a special award in for her contribution in saving Nic Mullen's life, when she had a cardiac arrest at the Taree Hockey Fields, last Friday (see story page 3).
New graduate of the year was awarded to Rebecca Kachel, who graduated from Newcastle University in 2011 and was accepted into the new graduate program at Manning Hospital shortly after.
"The graduate program is not compulsory, but I highly recommend it. It's a great program and means you get a broad experience and extra support. You also get exposed to some specialty areas which is great," Rebecca said.
Midwife of the year was awarded to Kelly Minett. Kelly has been a midwife at Manning Hospital for nine years and runs the undergraduate training program for Newcastle University's Bachelor of Midwifery students.
"I always wanted to be a midwife, it's a great profession and I enjoy helping others through their training," Kelly said.
All award recipients received a certificate and a $500 education and training voucher.
