GREATER Taree City Council is looking at three possible bridge solutions for both the Granny Fahey and Goldsmith bridges.
The time required to install, in addition to the project costs, are being considered in conjunction with other government agencies and levels of government.
It is planned at this point that initial works on the Granny Fahey bridge will be followed as closely as possible (once heavy vehicles can cross Caparra Creek) with works on the Goldsmith bridge.
For residents who are past Goldsmith Bridge, the detour via Tallowwood Flat Road, Dingo Tops Road and Big Run Road to Wherrol Flat Road is currently passable, but residents are advised to proceed with extreme caution, particularly on the Tallowwood Flat Road which is not currently maintained.
Council is updating the community at Caparra by telephone, e-mail and flyer, in addition to keeping its www.taree.cc/roads web page.
Among the other difficulties being experienced, waste disposal will also be an issue as council is unable to get trucks through to service the properties. Domestic waste can be burned in such situations.
It is suggested that residents in this area stockpile recyclables and use old bins to secure them if available.
When services can be restored residents will be eligible to present additional bins.
