Three in court after break and enter

Three men will appear in court today after an aggravated break and enter at Taree.

About 11:40am yesterday, a 75-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife were in the bedroom of their Bushland Drive home when they heard a loud bang outside.

Two men then broke into the house through the bedroom window before stealing two bags and an amount of cash.

The elderly woman chased the men down the street before a member of the public came to help her and rang police.

Officers patrolled the area and arrested two 21-year-old men as well as a 31-year-old man at a nearby shopping centre.

An amount of cash was allegedly found in the pants of two of the men during their arrest while one of the stolen bags was found in the grounds of a nearby school.

The three men were charged with aggravated break, enter and steal where they were refused bail to appear in Taree Local Court today.
