Defensive skills entertain

IN a low scoring C division indoor netball game at the Taree Insports Arena Red Frogs defeated Gold Rush Girls 13 goals to 11 with the skins tied at two each.

It was an enjoyable match to watch, the defence by both sides was very good.

The Frogs' Tasmin Cleaver made many good intercepts and was outstanding in defence. For the girls Anna Cutler played a hard game defending and also intercepted well.

Scrunchies were too good for Legally Allowed winning all four skins and scoring 25 goals to 11.

Melanie Higgins led the winners with Lisa Matherson moving quickly about the court and also shot some good goals.

Legal Eagles' Ruth Smith took many intercepts and helped to take the ball down the court while encouraging team mates to do their best.

The Old Bar Dugongs kept their head above water to beat Foggs three skins to one in a close match in B grade.

Old Bar's Emma Mortimer had a good game, being very fast around the court according to captain Sharon Fletcher.

Fogg's Sue Kelso played a strong defensive game to help keep the oppositions score down.

Allsorts dominated their match against Manning PPs taking all four skins.

Good goal shooting by Allsorts' Michelle Woods paved the way for their good victory.

Manning's Amber Boggiss was the side's best player on the night, being all over the court and every where the action was.

In a light hearted game Taree Motor Cycles accounted for Funkia four skins to nil and 39 goals to 31.

For the Motor Cyclists Lynn Baggett ran the mid court well and for the defeated Funkia side Teressa Deas put up solid defence.

In A grade Gold Studios and Taree Scrap Metals Shot Ducks levelled the skins at two each, the game going to Gold Studios 32 goals to 26.

Margaret Katsoolis, the winning skipper said Narelle Dark controlled their team's attack very well.

For Shot Ducks Brooke Smith took some well timed intercepts.

It was a competitive match with good netball skills displayed by both sides.

It was another close game between Fiths and Sunne Printing with the skins tied at two each and the game going to Fiths 39-29.

Fiths played their best game for some time and deserved the win.

Captain Janine White and daughter Tammy fed the team's shooters well to score lots of goals for Fiths.

The Printers Robyn Goodwin used her height to advantage in plays for ball possession.
