Mug of Mugs on Saturday

07 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THE scheduled Classic Design Jewellers Mug of Mugs playoff will be conduced this Saturday at Club Taree Golf Club after torrential rain soaked the Taree layout.

More than 150mms tumbled down over a 48 hour period turning the front nine into a lake.

It is hoped that favourable weather this week will allow the prestigious event to be played.

A hardy bunch of 29 played a nine hole stableford event on the clubhouse side on Saturday with scoring proving tough.

Brad Allan defied conditions to win with a well compiled 21 points.

Runner up was Mark Newnham 20pts countback from Michael Byrne, T Cook,Craig Mitchell and Bob Nupier all on 20.

The ball comp went to 18 points countback.

Taree Retravision Cup winners

In fairness to our valued sponsors Taree Retravision the winners presentation for the Summer Cup will be held this Saturday in conjunction with our Mug of Mugs winner.

Poor weather and reduced fields over previous weeks left the GMC with no other option.

Winners: A-grade Ray Webber 156, runnerup David Reed 153, B-grade Terry Holden 154, runner up Grant Melham 150, C-grade Wayne Schiemer 147countback, Brian Dunlea.

It is hoped all the winners can be in attendance to thank our sponsors.

Pennants 2012

Only one match was played on Sunday with courses around the district recovering from last week's weather.

Our division one side travelled to Wauchope to play a very strong outfit going down 7-1. Matt Walz scored the team's only point with Wauchope dominating on their home track.

I am sure the team will perform much better in our home game in the next round.

Captains of divisions two, three and four will be advised of new dates for washed out matches when available.
