MANNING players figure prominently in the Northern NSW Football under 13 and 14 train-on squad for the National Youth Championships to be played in October at Coffs Harbour.
For the first time in 2011, Northern NSW Football entered two boys sides (Country and Metropolitan) in both age groups.
The under 14s headed by Vic Stokes finished the championships in first place in Group B, while Jez Murray from Hallidays Point was selected in the under 13 All Stars squad at the conclusion of the championships. Jez has also been selected as part of the 2012 under 14 Northern NSW Country train-on squad.
Northern NSW Football technical director David Smith is hopeful the Country sides will continue their success in 2012.
"Following on from the 2011 performances at the National Championships by both our under 13 and under 14 Country teams, we are all keen to move forward and maintain the level we have already set," said Smith.
The train on squads will now participate in further training camps in preparation of October's National Youth Championships, with a number of Sunday training sessions also planned for the players before selection of the final 16 player squads.
