Cundletown will look to secure the Manning A-grade cricket minor premiership when the final day’s play for the competition-proper resumes tomorrow at Johnny Martin Oval.
All-rounder Danial Stone did the damage for Cundletown last week, ripping through the Wingham order to take 5/55 as Wingham crashed to be all out for 119.
Cundletown has wiped 82 runs off the deficit for the loss of three wickets. Ricky Campbell and Nathan Currie will be the batsmen to resume and both were looking in good touch last week.
Cundletown went into the game with a comfortable cushion over Wingham in the race for the minor premiership and first innings points will secure the title.
However, the disappointing batting effort continues the side’s indifferent form post-Christmas. Even though they turned things around the following day in the one-day final, it will still be a concern for captain Wayne Smoothy on the eve of the semi-finals.
Only Mick Stinson with 34 showed any resolve.
Wingham looked to have the minor premiership wrapped up a month ago. A washed out game against Taree Leagues didn’t help the side’s cause.
Semi-finals in all Manning senior grades will start next weekend.
