What Ms Byrne said:
I WOULD like to extend my congratulations to the organisers of the anti fracking rally in Taree.
It was a very informative event with useful information about current NSW Government legislation and what landholders can do to slow the coal seam gas mining movement.
It is disappointing to note however that Steve Bromhead, our member for Myall Lakes and a representative for the National Party, whose main membership is made up of primary producers and country landholders, is silent on this coal seam gas mining issue, even though it is these members who are going to be the ones most heavily affected by it.
It is even more disappointing that the Liberals and Nationals are in power in the State government, yet are still ignoring the National Party's majority of members.
Coal seam gas mining will not disappear if it is ignored.
I urge people who voted for Steve Bromhead to ask him: 'Where do you stand on the coal seam gas mining issue?' and 'What are you doing for your electorate?' K Byrne, Wallabi Point
