Weather delays club extensions
CLUB Taree has set a new date of the Australia Day weekend when it hopes to open its new car park and golf pro shop.
The new building adjacent to the main Taree RSL and Golf Club in Wingham Road, Taree was earlier expected to be ready for use by Christmas Eve,
However rain and the recent dust storms slowed progress a little, and the finishing touches will need to be put to the building after Christmas.
The contractors, Ware Building of Tuncurry, will work up until Christmas and then take a four week break.
When they resume, their remaining work will include projects such as lighting and line marking in the carpark.
Club CEO Geoff Garnett said it's an extremely exciting time for the club with architects also working on a construction certificate for the next stage of the expansion - additional function rooms and a stage area.
"Hopefully we will be in a position to go to tender by mid December, with work starting late in February," he said.
