GREATER Taree City Council is reminding the community that nominations are being called for worthy recipients to receive Australia Day awards.
If you know an individual who provides outstanding contributions to their local, State and national communities then you should consider acknowledging their effort by nominating them.
Nominations can be made for citizen of the year, young citizen of the year (up to age 25), Australia Day sports award and community organisation of the year award.
Eligible nominees include any resident who has made a significant contribution to the local community during the year, or who has given outstanding service over a number of years. Eligible community organisations include those who are not-for-profit and largely made up of volunteers.
"Australia Day awards are a prestigious honour and people are encouraged to seriously consider community members and community organisations who are worthy of recognition," mayor Paul Hogan said.
Winners will be announced at the Australia Day ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Park, at Taree.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the council's administration counter on Level 2 of its administration building, at any local library branch or online at www.gtcc.nsw.gov.au. Follow the links: Your Council / Community Services / Community Awards.
Nominations close Thursday, December 17.
