'CHEAP Tuesday' brought some improvements in Taree's petrol prices but the city's motorists are still paying far more than their cousins in neighbouring areas.
Prices began heading in the right direction yesterday morning with an average price at Taree service stations of 132.9 cents per litre for unleaded.
This represented a drop of four cents in 24 hours.
Those with shopper dockets could secure 128.9 cents per litre, while Plus or E10 fuels were in the range of 128.7 to 129.9.
While the four cent drop brought some hope that Taree may soon receive a fair go, there is still a long way to go to match the deals in nearby areas.
Wingham motorists were faring 10 cents better at 122.9 for unleaded yesterday, while Coopernook was also in better shape at 123.9.
Bulahdelah prices are among the best in the region, with 117.9 available this week, while Port Macquarie has also been significantly cheaper than Taree at 121.8.
Other areas remain high though, with Forster at 135.9 as of Monday and Gloucester 133.9 yesterday.
As of Monday Taree was more than 11 cents above the New South Wales average, which at that stage was 125.5.
