Old bins collected soon, if you want

'SO what happens to our old garbage bins?'

It's a common question being asked in Greater Taree as the region prepares to begin its new waste service next week.

The old bins are being used for the last time this week but for most residents it will be a few weeks before the old bin is collected.

In Greater Taree the collection of old bins will start on November 9 and will take place over two weeks, based on the classification of week A or B for each neighbourhood.

The old bins are to be placed out for removal on the same day as the new yellow (recycling) bin is put out for service in your area.

For residents classified as Week B, collection will be from November 9 through to 13 while Week A residents will have their bins collected from November 16 to 20.

In the Great Lakes Week B will be collected from November 23 to 27 and Week A from November 30 to December 4.

Old bins are to be placed out completely empty ? they cannot be removed if they contain any items.

They are to be placed out upside down with the lid in the open position.

If they are not collected on the scheduled day, leave them out and they will be removed as soon as possible.

The contractor will visit each street only once. If you miss putting your bin out, it can be taken to the landfill depots on the Bucketts Way at Tinonee at no charge.

Returning the old bin is optional ? residents can choose to retain them and use them for any purpose they wish.
