Immigration officials visit

06 Nov, 2009 01:00 AM
MEMBER for Lyne Robert Oakeshott has encouraged residents with immigration-related queries to take advantage of a visit to the Manning by departmental officials next week.

Mr Oakeshott said representatives from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship would be providing individual consultations at his Taree office in the Manning Arcade from midday to 2pm on Monday.

"This is an important opportunity for anyone with an immigration-related query to meet face-to-face with the experts and have their questions answered," Mr Oakeshott said.

"The visiting department representatives will be able to provide information on a host of issues, ranging from family migration and working visas to refugee entry."

Mr Oakeshott said the issue of bringing additional family members to Australia from the resident's country of origin was among the more common queries made to Department officials.

"Other common questions relate to issues such as skilled migration and the progression of employee-sponsored visitors to the status of permanent residency," he said.

"These visits typically attract a range of people, from community groups and small business owners to farmers, students and individuals, who might want specific information or just someone to talk them through a complex matter."

Anyone interested in arranging a meeting on Monday must make an appointment by phoning Mr Oakeshott's office on 6584 2911, or toll-free on 1300 301 836.
