Gloucester added as a natural disaster area

10 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
GLOUCESTER has been added to the list of NSW councils declared natural disaster areas following the latest flood.

It joins others including Greater Taree, Upper Hunter, Ballina, Gunnedah, Moree, Taree, Gwydir, Narrabri, Tenterfield, Bellingen, Byron, Lismore, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Inverell, Nambucca, Kempsey and Tweed council areas.

The declarations mean councils, families, business owners and primary producers can now access help to help them recover and rebuild, under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery arrangements and the NSW Disaster Assistance arrangements.

The Federal government has also this week acted on the advice of the NSW Government and will provide clean-up and recovery grants for primary producers and small business owners in Moree, Narrabri and Gwydir.
