Donna mixes with world's best chefs

Multi-award winning Wingham business Bent on Food made its debut last weekend at the eighth annual Sydney Good Food and Wine Show.

Darling Harbour’s Convention and Exhibition Centre was the centre of attention as top chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Matt Moran and Ben O’Donaghue starred alongside some of the best produce from across Australia.

It was the first year that Donna Carrier, owner of Bent on Food, had been invited to exhibit, and it capped off a successful three-and-a-half year start to the Wingham operation.

Its recent move from Bent Street into Isabella Street has brought more exposure, more space and more excitement to the business, Ms Carrier said before leaving for Sydney.

She accepted an invitation from Lyndey Milan, food director of the Australian Women’s Weekly and award winning author and TV presenter, to join the regional food stand at this year’s festival.

Held over three days, the show included over 300 exhibitors with their food and wines on show, as well as demonstrations and cooking schools, making it the ultimate place for the public to explore new tastes and discover the latest culinary trends from around the world.

Among the Bent on Food range to showcase was its own Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade, Apple Balsamic Chutney, and Strawberry and Vanilla Jam, as well as Manning Valley Organic Honey.

Ms Carrier also took produce from another regional company, The Other Chef, at Lake Cathie.

Among its range on show in Sydney was its Confit Garlic, Asian Tomato Relish, Balsamic Essence and Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Some of The Other Chef’s products have won gold awards at the Royal Easter Show.
