Community check-up

06 Nov, 2009 08:54 AM
GREATER Taree City Council is currently updating its Community Information database.

The database is an important local resource providing community members and visitors with a comprehensive listing of around 1500 community organisations in the Manning Valley.

These groups include government organisations, health support services, sporting groups and leisure activities as well as services for children and the aged.

Council's manager of library services, Margie Wallis said the community database is live on council's website and is constantly updated.

"This month we are doing a major update and we are asking organisations to check their details prior to the publication of the 2010 directory," she said.

"To make it into the new directory you need to update your data by next Tuesday.

"A total of 10,000 free copies of the directory will go out into the community, so it's a good opportunity to promote your service to a large number of people," Margie Wallis said.

The 2010 print version of the directory will be made available in February through council's offices, visitor information centre and libraries.

If you need to access information about community organisations and services, simply go to council's website at www.gtcc.nsw.gov.au and click on the 'Community Directory' button on the front page.

For further information on the update, contact Lisa Greenwood at Taree Library on 6592 5295 or email your organisation details to lisa.greenwood@gtcc.nsw.gov.au
