DETOURS will be in place this week as Greater Taree City Council continues road rehabilitation works in Commerce Street, Taree.
The first stage of the work, which involved drainage improvement, is due to be completed tomorrow, to be followed by commencement of the road pavement rehabilitation.
The first phase of this work will involve the removal and stabilisation of existing pavement material and the application of a bitumen-based wearing course.
This work will commence on Thursday and is scheduled to finish the following Wednesday, February 17.
The area of work affected will include the Wingham bound lanes of Commerce Street, between Victoria Street and High Street.
During this period light traffic will be detoured around the worksite, while access for residents and businesses will be maintained.
Some minor interruptions should be expected, with delays of up to 15 minutes likely in the vicinity of the worksite.
An alternate route for B-doubles and other heavy or long vehicles will be available via Cundletown.
Work on the weekend from 7am on Saturday February 13 and 8am on Sunday February 14 is scheduled.
Kerbside parking in the worksite area will be fully closed.
The program of work is subject to change and is dependant on the weather.
Heavy vehicles that have not taken the suggested alternate route will be allowed through the worksite, however, delays can be expected.
Council appreciates that there will be some disruption to traffic and will attempt to keep these to a minimum.
