Christmas toy run

21/11/2008 12:00:00 AM
CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and that means it is the time of year again when motor cyclists can participate in the annual charity toy run.

Excitement is mounting for the bike ride, which is an opportunity to share the Christmas spirit and give to others in need, especially to families, who often struggle with the extra pressures and expectations of the festive season.

The Ulysses Club Mid North Coast Branch has organised the ride to assemble at Wingham Plaza. Departure time is 11am on Sunday, December 7.

Anyone with a bike or trike is welcome to come along and swell the numbers for this fun event, so mark the date on your calendar.

The ride will have a police escort and will proceed through Taree to Cundletown turning left at the airport roundabout to Lansdowne and on to Coopernook. From Coopernook the highway will be crossed from the southern exit and finish at the Harrington skate park near the breakwall, the collection point for donations.

Apart from the donation of food for Christmas hampers, the focus of giving will especially be on items for teenagers. Some suggestions are gift vouchers, CDs or DVDs, jewellery, cosmetics, books, older board games, clothing and sports equipment.

The Salvation Army Hannam Vale/Harrington has been chosen as the recipient of donations this year. The Salvation Army is well known for practical Christian giving in the community not only at Christmas but throughout the whole year.

After the ride food and hot and cold drinks can be purchased from the Salvos' barbecue at the park.

Please join in and make this the biggest and best toy run yet. If you have any queries contact secretary, Essey on 6555 2909.
