Description:
The Forster Tuncurry Hawks are running their inaugural Sevens Carnival on Saturday the 25th February 2012 at Harry Elliott Oval, Tuncurry. The carnival has been fully sanctioned by Group 3 and the Country Rugby League.
From enquires already fielded it is shaping up to be an outstanding success. Teams from Group 6, 4, 2, 19, 3, and 21 have shown interest, as have a number of Newcastle and Central Coast teams together with Bundaberg Red Cup side, Cabramatta. A number of “A Grade” Sydney Junior League clubs have also indicated they may attend. The carnival is only accepting 20 teams in this, their inaugural year, and it is on a first in best dressed basis.
Hawks Committee Member, Dave Dundas is organising the carnival and is urging teams to contact him for the Application Pack and Nomination Forms, as he is positive that teams will miss out if not confirmed and the nomination fee ($250) paid prior to the new year. The “Sporties Club”, part of the Club Forster Group, have kindly come on board as the Major Sponsor for the next three years, for this the Hawks are extremely grateful, as it is the intention of the Hawks to expand the carnival in years to come and as such increase the already healthy prize money ($5k).
In “breaking news” the Sevens Carnival will now also include ladies teams as part of the day. Local ARL Development Officer, Kylie Hilder has gained support from the ARL and the NSWRL to conduct a ladies sevens competition to run in conjunction with the men’s competition. The ladies playing on the day will also be under the watchful eyes of the NSW Women’s Rugby League State of Origin selectors, with the possibility of some players being selected to pay for NSW in their annual clash with QLD. This is NOT League Tag, it is full on Rugby League. Kylie is seeking team nominations but individuals could also possibly be fitted into teams. For further information and to obtain the Application Pack contact Dave or Kylie on email croc1207@bigpond.net.au but do it quickly
